Dunskins can range in shade, but
are generally paler than a bay dun. They lack the
true orange-gold tones of a golden buckskin, and
when compared to light or buttermilk buckskins,
the difference is usually still quite clear.
As you can see in the above examples
of light or buttermilk buckskins, their colors are
creamy-yellow with slight orange tones in their
darker areas.
But our example of dunskin is a
peachy-yellow, retaining some pale red tones from
the unique dilution effects of the dun gene on the
red of the bay base color, even when accompanied
by a cream gene.
